Even with advanced communication and safety arrangements on board, many boat owners often find themselves stranded in the water and waiting to be rescued. Two sailors faced a similar situation and were stranded for a time period of nearly three weeks. They had run out of fuel and were adrift, surviving on fish that they caught and were low on their supply of drinking water as well. They were hoping that a Christmas miracle would come their way and it did, on 21st December 2018. A cruise ship came by their way, equipped with eleven decks, a café, a dining room, a specialty grille, a spa, four walls and even a rock climbing wall included. This was the Empress of the Seas that is part of the Royal Caribbean. This cruise ship came across the fishing vessel adrift and the two marines on board. The boat was found in the waters between Jamaica and Grand Cayman as was reported later by CNN news sources.

It was an exciting day one at the RC44 Calero Marinas Cup as the top eight boat racing teams ended up being separated by just six points. The competition has possibly been stiffer as the racing season nears its end while another plausible reason is the tricky tests the team faced in the three races.

The nine competing sides moored at Canary Island, just south of Arrecife’s Marina Lanzarote. As the first race got underway, Team Aqua edged the others to emerge winners. Skipper Chris Bake later admitted that the strong finish in the first race put them “in good wind” and was “the breaker.”

“In the next election, I think it should be Pete for PM.” This was the reaction of Gary Smith the treasurer of Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club after watching Team NZ Peter Burling and the former member of the club and brings home the America’s Cup.

He said, “I have watched him from Olympic sailing to this point. It was ridiculous, and they made it look they were on a Yacht Charter Croatia at times!

Smith said the day was magical not only for the team New Zealand, Burling, but also for his fans. Smith had helped the young Burling in teaching the rules of sailing. But, now he says, I think Burling has ended up teaching me some rules and tricks of sailing,” saying this, he laughed profoundly.
